Baby Gifts - Baby Blankets Crochet Edging
Welcoming a baby into
the world is a wonderful experience for new parents, but it
can also be very overwhelming. Well-chosen baby gifts can
make the transition into life as a family, rather than as a
couple, a lot easier.
There are hundreds, if not thousands,
of cute and sweet things to give a new baby, but if you take
the time to think about it, there are also many practical
and helpful gifts that are designed to make life much easier
for the new parents. Baby gifts that are also practical will
be used over and over again.
A baby monitor is one of the most practical baby gifts you
can buy for new parents. Until you have used one, you don't
realise just how fabulous they are! You can monitor the
sounds from your baby's room, and still attend to other jobs
around the house. No need to worry about your baby, or check
at your baby's door every few minutes to see if she's awake.
Baby monitors are also useful at night, as you can hear when
your baby wakes for a feed, but sleep comfortably the rest
of the time, knowing you will hear anything you need to
hear.
When a new baby arrives, many parents worry a lot about the
baby's health, so a digital baby thermometer can be a very
useful. Your baby's temperature can be checked regularly,
without all the fuss of old fashioned thermometers. There
are lots of different models available, including ear
thermometers, skin thermometers, and more traditional
versions that take the baby's temperature orally in seconds.
If you'd rather buy baby gifts that are a little more fun,
then take a look at some of the great crib items that are
available. One fabulous idea is to buy a "dream box" that
attaches to the side of the crib, and can play gentle,
relaxing sounds, sometimes with a changing light display.
Babies love these, and they are a great way to help your
baby relax and fall asleep. Mechanical mobiles to hang above
the crib can also be great for lulling your baby to sleep.
There are also toys and rattles that help stimulate your
baby's senses, as well as being fun and interesting to play
with.
Sometimes baby gifts can be a bit too expensive for one
person to buy, so it can be a good idea to join together
with your friends to either buy bigger baby gifts, or
perhaps a gift certificate so the parents can choose exactly
what they want. Talk to the parents first, and see which
approach they'd prefer for baby gifts such as strollers,
playpens, cribs or car seats. Another really practical baby
gift is diapers. Check with the mother to determine whether
she prefers disposable or cloth, then buy her a big stock of
them. If she's planning to use cloth nappies, then a diaper
service can be heaven sent for a busy new mother. A diaper
service will collect dirty diapers once a week, clean them,
and return them ready to be used again. That's one chore new
parents will be happy to do without!
If you can't resist the cute baby gifts, you can still be
practical too. Baby cribs need blankets and sheets, plus
your baby will need towels, washcloths, burp cloths and lots
more. If you're going to buy the new baby clothes, then
remember that it's good to be practical. That exquisitely
hand embroidered dress may be irresistible, but is it really
going to get worn by a newborn baby? Choose clothes that
will get lots of use - after all, you want your baby gifts
to be used lots of times. Onesies, sleepers, socks,
t-shirts, warm jackets - check them all to make sure they
are easy to put on and remove. Babies go through an enormous
amount of clothing, and so the less time the new parents
have to spend fiddling with tight buttons and fastenings,
the better.
When it comes to baby
gifts, take the time to think about what you're buying, and
how much use the new parents will get from it. It's no good
spending your money on something that will just get put in a
box at the top of a cupboard, never to be seen again. I
still have a box like that from when my son was born, and
he's nearly nine years old! I can't even remember who gave
me those things, but I do know I received many other
practical and useful baby gifts that I used many, many
times, and I always thought of the gift giver when I did so.
